US automakers seek permanent ban on Chinese cars, connected tech over security risks

A coalition of major automakers urged US lawmakers to permanently ban Chinese vehicles, citing the threats they pose to domestic economic and national security interests.

In a letter to Democratic and Republican leadership of both the House of Representatives and Senate, the head of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation said lawmakers should ban Chinese connected cars as well as related vehicle software and hardware from the US before the current legislative session ends in January.…
