Minister stresses importance of air force museum
January 27, 2012 | News Source: Minute to MinuteLuanda – Angolan Defence minister, Cândido Pereira Van-Dúnem, said Friday that the Museum of National Air Force (FAN) will help interested and future generation learn about the history related to the creation of this branch of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).
Speaking during the ceremony of inauguration of the museum, located in "21 de Janeiro" avenue, Luanda Air Base, the minister said that the visitors will know more about the missions and perspectives of FAN.
The importance of museum is based on preservation of heritage, after the achievement of peace, noted the Cândido Pereira Van-dunem.
The museum was opened with the collaboration of the Culture Ministry, responsible for museum-related policies, which also signed a joint decree with the Defence Ministry.
Candido Van-Dunem, who signed the document for the Ministry of Defence, said the Ministry of Culture will assist the operation of the museum in order it continue and be able to evolve technically.
In her turn, the minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, said the opening of the infrastructure represents a special moment for culture, once the culture must necessarily be associated to all national development programme.
While FAN commander, the general Gonçalves Afonso "Hanga", noted that the inauguration of the museum coincides with the celebrations of 36 anniversary of the referred military branch, commemorated on 21 January.
Attended the event chiefs of Departments of Command of General Staff of National Air Force (FAN), General Staff of Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and guests.
